AWS Architect (Architecture & Cost Optimization)

Contract Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly technical AWS Architect to drive deep architectural reviews and FinOps optimizations across a complex AWS landscape. This role focuses heavily on analyzing existing AWS services, identifying right-sizing opportunities, and architecting cost-efficient, high-performance cloud environments using the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
Core Responsibilities:
Deep Architecture Reviews:
Evaluate and audit across a wide array of AWS services including MSK, ECS, CloudWatch, Glue, S3, EC2, Lambda, Connect, Config, CloudTrail, ELB, SQS, and Amazon MQ. Cloud Cost Optimization (FinOps): Identify and execute optimization levers such as right-sizing, Graviton migrations, Spot instances, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances (RIs), lifecycle policies, and S3 Intelligent-Tiering.
Environment Consolidation:
Evaluate non-production environments to establish shutdown windows, eliminate duplication, and consolidate shared services.
Technology Assessment:
Assess and recommend emerging AWS technologies (e.g., Graviton, Outposts, AWS Marketplace) for cost-conscious, high-performance adoption.
Strategic Reporting:
Produce detailed monthly recommendation reports featuring quantified savings projections and actionable implementation roadmaps.
Technical Requirements:
AWS Mastery:
Expert, hands-on knowledge across AWS compute, storage, networking, data, and observability domains.
AWS FinOps Tools:
Deep expertise in AWS pricing models, Cost Explorer, Compute Optimizer, Trusted Advisor, and AWS Cost & Usage Reports (CUR).
Modern Cloud Architecture:
Extensive experience with Containerization (ECS, Fargate, EKS), Serverless architectures (Lambda), Data Streaming (MSK, Kinesis), and ETL processes (Glue).
Frameworks:
Proven ability to conduct AWS Well-Architected Framework reviews, with a strict emphasis on the Cost Optimization and Performance Efficiency pillars. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong familiarity with deployment and automation using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
Experience & Certifications:
Experience:
10+ years of overall cloud engineering/architecture experience, with a minimum of 6+ years specifically focused on AWS.
Required Certification:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
Preferred Certification:
AWS Specialty Certification (Data Analytics, Security, or Advanced Networking).•At
