Santa Clara, CA Job Details Part-time $135,000 - $155,000 a year 13 hours ago Qualifications Engineering testing Bachelor's degree Aviation Test Planning (Quality assurance practices) Engineering validation Full Job Description The Position ATAC has an opening for a Senior Systems Engineer. This is a part-time position located on-site at the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated member of ATAC's WJHTC team and will support various research efforts. These efforts will focus on aviation safety including Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) integration and use to supplement and enhance National Airspace System (NAS) inspections.
Responsibilities will include:
Collaborating with other in-house FAA researchers, pilots, and laboratory personnel, developers, programmers, and other contract support as well as research partners such as NASA, MITRE, and other universities Using analytical tools to support/enhance FAA systems Developing, refining, and implementing flight tests in operational and research settings involving a variety of commercial aircraft types and UAS Supporting data analyses including automating analysis processes and report generation Supporting testing and data collection efforts, and enhancing capabilities in these areas Documenting and reporting on work products A background check will be required for this position. Qualifications ATAC is looking for a self-starter that can work independently and complete projects with minimum oversight. They must be adaptable and able to learn new tools and technologies as necessary to meet customer needs. Additionally, ATAC is seeking open-minded people who have an interest in developing knowledge in the aviation domain and motivation to be a part of the FAA's efforts to make air travel more convenient and dependable, while ensuring flights are as safe, secure and hassle-free as possible Required attributes include : A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field Twenty-plus years of related experience Research background/experience Experience with flight test planning and validation Experience with NAS systems, equipment, and operations Experience with aircraft flight data monitoring equipment and data Experience with UAS integration efforts Strong analytical skills Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal relations skills Desired attributes include: Experience with aviation safety research Knowledge of current air traffic management regulations Knowledge of airport navigation equipment and instrument landing systems Pilot license In addition, the ideal candidate is a team player, open to new ideas, technologies and development methodologies, thinks both logically and creatively, and approaches problems and problem solving with a positive and constructive attitude. The salary for this position is $135,000 - $155,000 annually.
