As an FPGA/Firmware Engineer, you will primarily design, develop, integrate, and verify FPGA and SoC solutions for SIL's advanced avionics, power systems, and lithium-ion battery technologies, while also developing embedded firmware to support integrated system functionality. You will work extensively with FPGA and SoC platforms, RTL design, digital logic, embedded processors, and hardware interfaces to implement reliable, high-performance solutions for mission-critical aerospace applications. Collaborating closely with electrical, systems, software, manufacturing, and test engineers, you will contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from requirements and design through prototyping, integration, verification, qualification, and production.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement, and maintain FPGA and SoC solutions for aerospace electronics and avionics systems. Develop, maintain, and verify RTL designs using Verilog and/or SystemVerilog. Perform FPGA synthesis, implementation, timing analysis, programming, optimization, and hardware debugging using applicable vendor development tools. Develop and execute FPGA verification strategies, including HDL testbenches, simulation, and hardware-based verification. Perform FPGA and SoC prototyping, hardware bring-up, integration, troubleshooting, and debugging. Integrate FPGA and SoC designs with PCBAs, embedded processors, sensors, memory devices, and other electronic components. Develop and maintain embedded firmware in C and/or C++ for microcontrollers, processors, and SoC platforms as required by system architecture. Develop and support communication interfaces and protocols between FPGA/SoC devices, embedded processors, and peripheral hardware. Collaborate with electrical, systems, software, and test engineers to define system requirements, interfaces, and design architectures. Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment to evaluate hardware behavior and troubleshoot FPGA, firmware, and system-level issues. Participate in design reviews, technical reviews, requirements reviews, and system integration activities. Develop and maintain RTL, firmware, design, verification, interface, and other required technical documentation. Support functional, environmental, qualification, and acceptance testing of aerospace hardware. Work with test and manufacturing engineering to support production programming, testing, troubleshooting, and product transition activities. Maintain configuration-controlled source code and design files in accordance with established engineering, quality, version-control, and configuration-management processes. Identify and implement opportunities to improve FPGA and firmware performance, reliability, maintainability, verification, and development processes. Perform other duties as assigned
