We are seeking a Capture System Engineer to develop and operate advanced capture systems that support cutting-edge AI research focused on understanding and modeling the physical world. In this role, you will collaborate closely with research scientists, hardware engineers, software engineers, and cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain high-throughput capture systems. You will contribute to the full lifecycle of these systems, including setup, calibration, upgrades, and large-scale data operations. Key Responsibilities Conduct data capture sessions, annotation, processing, and quality assurance using proprietary and commercial tools Support and maintain capture labs and infrastructure Assemble, debug, and validate capture systems according to technical specifications Collaborate with hardware engineers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure system reliability and performance Perform end-to-end testing of capture systems, identify sources of error, and implement solutions Monitor system performance and provide feedback to improve quality, stability, and output Define milestones and timelines in collaboration with project stakeholders Identify blockers and work cross-functionally to resolve issues efficiently Create and maintain technical documentation for capture systems Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience Proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems, including command-line tools Experience working in a production capture environment Hands-on experience with multi-camera systems, depth sensors, IMUs, and integrated capture pipelines Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across hardware and software systems Experience in applied research and/or product development involving hardware/software integration Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies Effective communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences Experience working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Research, and Product Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience working with capture systems Experience with distributed systems and/or cloud services Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Zsh) Experience with multi-camera system design and operation Familiarity with open-source tools and ecosystems Experience in fault analysis or failure mode analysis Knowledge of camera synchronization techniques (e.g., timecode, genlock) and real-time systems Experience taking systems from concept to deployment Experience with rapid prototyping tools (e.g., 3D printing)Similar remote jobs
