11-15 years of experience. Subject Matter Expert of a specific (often specialized) application technology with demonstrative ability to convey both technical and functional concepts. The Power Platform Specialist provides expert‑level leadership in designing, architecting, and maintaining complex low‑code solutions that drive agency‑wide automation and digital modernization. They oversee the development of advanced Power Apps and Power Automate workflows, integrating systems and optimizing business processes at scale. This role evaluates enterprise processes, shapes solution architectures, and ensures secure, compliant, and high‑performance implementations across the Power Platform ecosystem. In addition to documenting technical designs and guiding end users, they mentor staff, establish best practices, and lead strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency. The specialist continuously monitors platform advancements and recommends enterprise‑level automation opportunities to support long‑term agency transformation•
CONTRACT JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates expertise in conveying technical and functional concepts for a specific technical specialty. Identifies improvements to project standards to achieve high quality services/products. This is a professional position which may require subject matter expertise consistent with demanding and rare technological skills. May require coordination of programming activities being conducted by the application development team. Confers with other business and technical personnel to resolve problems of intent, inaccuracy, or feasibility of computer processing and project design. Works with necessary personnel to determine if modifications are necessary with interested personnel to determine necessity for modifications or enhancements. Leverages excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop new business process and programming solutions as directed by business and technical stakeholders. May coordinate activities of application developers. Able to identify best practices and standards for the use of the product. Proven track record of hands-on technical design and code work within large complex systems. Proven hands-on technical work with a variety of technologies. Demonstrated technical expertise integrating a variety of diverse technical environments and cross-platform technologies. Delivers support and design for industry specific applications that require integration with statewide systems or applications. Interacts with executive level business users or technical experts. Advanced experience in the required technical subject matter. May function as a niche technical SME (Subject Matter Expert). Has proven experience across large and complex implementations and systems. Designing, building, and deploying Power Apps solutions (Canvas and Model‑Driven) to streamline workflows, improve data entry accuracy, and replace manual or paper‑based processes. Creating automated workflows using Power Automate to reduce repetitive tasks, integrate systems, manage approvals, and improve overall process efficiency across agency departments. Developing end‑to‑end solutions across the Power Platform ecosystem, leveraging Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, and connectors to internal and external systems. Evaluating existing business processes and collaborating with stakeholders to identify bottlenecks, process gaps, and opportunities for automation or modernization. Designing system architectures, data models, and integration strategies that support secure, scalable Power Platform solutions aligned with agency standards. Building custom connectors and integrating Power Platform tools with enterprise systems such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, and third‑party applications. Developing documentation including solution designs, process maps, user guides, workflow diagrams, and support materials for newly developed systems. Providing training, knowledge transfer, and functional guidance to end users, helping them adopt new tools and take advantage of automated solutions. Monitoring and maintaining existing Power Platform solutions, performing updates, optimizations, and troubleshooting to ensure consistent performance and user satisfaction. Ensuring solutions meet agency security requirements, compliance standards, and data governance policies, including role‑based security and data‑loss‑prevention (DLP) policies. Participating in planning sessions, discovery workshops, and requirements gathering meetings with internal teams to align technical solutions with business needs. Supporting the agency's digital transformation by recommending new automation opportunities, best practices, and process‑improvement strategies. Keeping current with Microsoft Power Platform features, enhancements, licensing considerations, and best practices to ensure solutions leverage the latest capabilities
