Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Firmware Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of low-power, connected firmware for our next-generation IoT devices. In this role, you will architect secure, scalable, and resilient embedded software that bridges edge hardware with cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with hardware engineers, systems architects, and cloud teams from initial board bring-up through volume manufacturing and field deployment. Key ResponsibilitiesFirmware Architecture & Development:
Design, code, and maintain production-grade C/C++ firmware for resource-constrained microcontrollers (ARM Cortex-M, ESP32, RISC-V, etc.).
IoT Connectivity & Protocols:
Implement and optimize low-power wireless communication stacks, including Wi-Fi, BLE, Cellular (LTE-M/NB-IoT), Thread/Zigbee, and application protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, andHTTP/HTTPS.
Hardware Bring-Up & Driver Development:
Write low-level device drivers for peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, PWM, DMA, flash memory) and collaborate with hardware teams during board bring-up and debugging.Power Optimization:
Analyze and implement aggressive power management strategies (sleep modes, duty cycling, peripheral management) to maximize battery longevity for edge devices.Security & OTA Updates:
Implement hardware-root-of-trust security features (secure boot, TLS, cryptographic acceleration, key management) and robust over-the-air (OTA) firmware update mechanisms.System Integration & Testing:
Utilize RTOS platforms (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or embedded Linux) to write multithreaded applications; conduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and automated regression testing.Lifecycle & Manufacturing Support:
Support factory test fixture development, diagnostic firmware creation, and mass production testing protocols.Mentorship & Process:
Drive code reviews, enforce coding standards (e.g., MISRA C), write technical documentation, and mentor junior and mid-level firmware engineers. Qualifications & RequirementsEducation:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.Experience:
5+ years of professional experience developing embedded C/C++ firmware for commercial IoT or edge devices.RTOS Expertise:
Proven experience using real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, or similar) for multi-tasking architectures.Protocol Proficiency:
Hands-on experience with wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, BLE, Cellular IoT, LoRaWAN) and network security standards (mTLS, AES, RSA, ECC).Hardware Debugging:
Proficient with hardware lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters, JTAG/SWD debuggers, and power profilers.Tooling & Version Control:
Advanced proficiency with Git, CMake/Make, GCC, CI/CD pipelines for embedded builds, and static analysis tools.Work Authorization :
Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship. Sponsorship will not be provided for this role Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills- Experience with Zephyr RTOS and modern meta-build systems (West/CMake).
- Exposure to embedded security architectures (ARM TrustZone, Secure Elements/TPMs).
- Familiarity with Python for test automation and scripting.
- Prior experience delivering high-volume consumer electronics or industrial IoT products from concept to mass production.
