Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
The Corporate Architect provides in-house architectural leadership for a long-term care healthcare organization with over 180 locations in the Southeast. This position is responsible for coordinating external architectural and engineering design teams, developing initial concept and feasibility drawings, and ensuring consistency, quality, regulatory compliance, and alignment with corporate standards for new construction and renovation projects across the enterprise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serves as the internal architectural lead for all new construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects across the portfolio. 2. Coordinates and oversees external architects, engineers, and design consultants throughout all phases of design, including programming, schematic design, design development, and construction documents. 3. Reviews architectural and engineering design documents to ensure compliance with corporate standards, operational needs, project budgets, and regulatory requirements. 4. Acts as the primary architectural liaison between internal departments (operations, clinical, construction, finance) and external design professionals. 5. Prepares initial concept drawings, space plans, test fits, and schematic-level graphics to support project planning, budgeting, and executive decision-making. 6. Assists with feasibility studies for renovations, expansions, new facilities, and potential property acquisitions. 7. Supports early project definition, scope development, and cost-estimating efforts through preliminary design analysis. 8. Interprets, maintains, and assists in the development of corporate architectural and design standards. 9. Ensures consistency in layout, finishes, durability, and resident experience across facilities. 10. Reviews designs for compliance with applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, ADA requirements, life safety codes, and healthcare regulations. 11. Works closely with internal construction and project management teams to support constructability reviews, value engineering, and design issue resolution. 12. Participates in design review meetings and provides architectural input during construction as needed. 13. Assists in reviewing RFIs, design clarifications, and architect-driven change recommendations. 14. Prepares clear graphic and written materials suitable for executive leadership review and internal approvals. 15. Maintains organized records of design concepts, standards, and reference documents for future use. 16. Communicates effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare and long-term care design requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to translate operational and clinical needs into practical design solutions.
  • Proficiency in architectural software and design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite; 3D/concept modeling software a plus).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently across a large geographic portfolio.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 7-12 years of professional architectural experience.
  • Experience with healthcare, long-term care, senior living, or comparable institutional facilities preferred.
  • Proven experience coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams and managing consultant deliverables.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW
  • Licensed Professional Architect

  • Experience with renovation projects in occupied facilities strongly preferred.
