Job Description

IT Systems Administrator & Software Role Summary This role is responsible for maintaining the company's internal IT environment and developing and supporting the company's proprietary software. It is a hybrid position balancing operational stability with software development. Prioritization is critical, as this role does not replace multiple specialized teams
Responsibilities Internal IT Operations:
Support and maintain: 15 desktops; 6 laptops; 2 printers; 1 server; 6 remote access users. Manage user accounts, passwords, permissions, and access control Troubleshoot hardware, OS, email, and application issues Install, configure, and update operating systems and third-party software Provide day-to-day technical support and basic user training Server, Network & Infrastructure Maintain the company server (on-prem or cloud) Manage core network infrastructure: internet connectivity; LAN, WIFI, switches, etc.. Monitor system availability and performance Ensure backups are running and periodically tested Maintain basic disaster recovery documentation Security (Baseline) Manage endpoint protection and patching Enforce appropriate user access controls. Promote basic cybersecurity awareness Monitor for obvious security risks and escalate serious incidents Proprietary Software Development Develop, maintain, and support the company's proprietary software Fix bugs and address functional issues Implement enhancements based on business priorities Maintain basic technical documentation Coordinate releases while maintaining system stability Third-Party & External Support (Limited Scope) Support third-party business software at the user level Manage licenses and vendor coordination Assist external users with access issues and basic guidance Escalate confirmed software defects appropriately Out of Scope (unless explicitly defined) 24/7 on-call support High-volume external support queues Supporting external hardware, networks, or internet services Enterprise-Level security or compliance management Acting as a helpdesk, network engineer, and full-time software team simultaneously.
Priority Framework:
1. Security incidents and critical outages 2. Core business system availability 3. Internal user support 4. Planned software development and enhancements
Success Measures:
Stable and secure IT Systems Effective Internal User Support Reliable backups and infrastructure Consistent, prioritized progress on proprietary software Clear communication of risks, timelines, and limitations.
