Job SummaryThe Staff Telecom Engineer supports the delivery, operation, and lifecycle management of fiber-based connectivity services and outside plant (OSP) infrastructure. This role combines hands-on fiber engineering, vendor coordination, and project ownership to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-performing connectivity solutions for customers and internal stakeholders.
ResponsibilitiesService Provisioning & Customer DeliveryProvision and manage customer Extended Cross-Connect (XCC) ordersCoordinate closely with BMMR providers to deliver customer connectivity servicesProvision and manage Fiber Connect circuits, ensuring timely and accurate deliverySupport customer-related troubleshooting, including fiber outage and connectivity issuesOperations & Incident SupportProvide Tier 2 support for fiber outages and customer trouble tickets in partnership with SMC and Site OperationsManage and track work visit tickets for Fiber Entrance (FE) rooms and manholes (MHs)Travel to sites, as required, to support operational activities and incident resolutionOSP Infrastructure & DocumentationMaintain ownership of manholes, conduits, and duct infrastructure both on-site and off-siteMaintain and update underground infrastructure diagrams (e.g., butterfly diagrams, dynamic charts) for campus, Metro Connect, and Fiber Connect networksEnsure accurate tracking of infrastructure layout, capacity, and connectivity recordsVendor, Carrier, & Project ManagementManage relationships with third-party vendors and trusted service providersLead and support outside plant vendor projects, including end-to-end ownership of RFP processesOversee delivery of tie cables and custom fiber orders (IBIDs)Submit and manage purchase orders through SharePoint as part of procurement and RFP workflowsFiber Engineering & Technical ExpertisePerform fiber testing, validation, and troubleshooting using OTDR and OLTS toolsSupport quality assurance and readiness of fiber infrastructure prior to service activationQualificationsAssociate's degree or 3+ years of experience in telecom, fiber, or OSP/ISP installationsHands-on experience with fiber testing and troubleshooting (OTDR, OLTS)Experience supporting telecom provisioning, operations, or infrastructure environmentsFamiliarity with OSP infrastructure (manholes, ducts, conduits, fiber pathways)Relevant certifications such as RCDD, RTPM, or CFOS/T are preferredSkills & AttributesStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilitiesAbility to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environmentEffective communication and coordination with internal teams and external partnersDetail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skillsCollaborative mindset with a focus on service excellence and continuous improvementThe targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
