Job Description

Vaco Technology is currently recruiting for a Sr Systems Engineer for an opportunity located on the north side of Indianapolis. The Sr Systems Engineer will be responsible for planning, implementing, configuring, administering, and maintaining the IT infrastructure, including servers, operating systems, networks, security, cloud applications, and related hardware/software. Provides technical problem-solving, infrastructure support, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with organizational standards. Key Responsibilities Administer Windows and Linux server environments, including physical and virtual systems. Support the design, implementation, and administration of cloud-based applications and infrastructure. Install, configure, patch, update, and troubleshoot operating systems and server applications. Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, security groups, DHCP, DNS, and directory services. Maintain corporate and retail network stability, security, firewalls, VPN, antivirus, and malware protection. Respond to security incidents, conduct security audits, and perform regular vulnerability/intrusion scans. Monitor system health, server resources, applications, logs, scheduled jobs, and backups. Manage daily backup operations and verify data integrity and availability. Maintain data center monitoring and environmental systems. Support IT procurement, purchase orders, retail equipment deployment, recycling, acquisitions, remodels, and relocations. Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge-base articles. Provide on-call support, including evenings and weekends as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Technical Skills Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred, with 4+ years of systems administration experience. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Linux. Experience with virtualization/hypervisors, servers, storage, networking, firewalls, DHCP, and DNS. Understanding of cloud infrastructure and applications. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and independently or as part of a team. Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and execute tasks efficiently.
