Job Description

Digital Sound Systems Inc. (DSS, Inc.) provides support for live entertainment across North America. With our staff and technology, we provide everything to make sure events leave a lasting impression. We are a technology provider specializing in concerts and corporate entertainment technology including sound, lighting, video, LED, and fabrication for all types of events. Summary:
Designs, integrates, installs, and maintains complex sound systems for live events, broadcast, studios, or corporate settings, focusing on hardware/software integration, acoustic optimization, signal flow, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality audio delivery, requiring skills in DSP, acoustics, electronics, and collaboration with diverse teams. They are problem-solvers who blend technical expertise with creative sound design, ensuring systems meet specific project needs.
Key Responsibilities Design & Configuration:
Specifying and designing audio system architecture, including microphones, mixers, speakers, DSPs, and control systems.
Installation & Integration:
Setting up, wiring, and integrating hardware and software components into cohesive systems.
Optimization & Testing:
Conducting acoustic measurements, tuning systems (EQ, delay), and performing diagnostics for optimal sound.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnosing and fixing complex technical issues with audio hardware and software.
Collaboration:
Working with clients, producers, acousticians, and installation teams to define requirements and achieve desired outcomes.
Documentation:
Creating system diagrams, test reports, and operational guides.
Maintenance:
Performing regular checks, upgrades, and repairs on audio equipment. Qualification /
Skills:
Prep, install, adjust, operate, remove and deprep electronic equipment to record, edit, reinforce, and transmit sound Operate control consoles for sound
  • Maintain recording equipment reinforcement Diagnose and resolve audio system problems Mix and regulate sound inputs and feeds Compress, digitize, duplicate, and store audio data Work with Project manager to achieve customer vision Collaborate with other departments regarding show needs: loading and unloading trucks Understanding of acoustics and sound transmission Must have a basic understanding of electrical wiring and flow Programming skills, preferred Good Customer Service Skills are essential Must be available nights/weekends Ability to work with minimal supervision Education /
Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years prior experience with audio equipment
  • Microsoft Office software
  • Vectorworks 2015-2018 and associated Cad based software, helpful but not required
  • Knowledge of FLEX Rental Solutions software, helpful but not required
  • Knowledge of CAD design, helpful
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel between show sites nationwide.
  • Must be flexible to alternate between daytime, nighttime and weekend hours, based on event schedules.
  • Performing General Physical Activities - requires considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
  • Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment - Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles, or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts or passenger vehicles.
  • Ability to lift 85lbs
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Rigging Harnesses, hard hats, safety vest
Condition of Employment:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license for company insurance purposes. CDL preferred but will consider Class C for Kansas and Class E for Missouri.

$40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
