Various On-Site Locations in the Annapolis Junction area Mid- to senior-level positions are available. Build, analyze, index, and secure large-scale cloud systems used in real operational environments through backend development and distributed data processing. Tools & Technologies HDFS/Hadoop Ecosystem | Linux/RHEL | Java | Spring Boot | Distributed Computing | Information Retrieval | Elastic | Apache NiFi What You'll Do Design, develop, and enhance complex big‑data cloud systems based on documented requirements. Contribute across backend processing, data analysis, and indexing pipelines. Implement Java‑based applications in distributed and cloud‑native environments. Build and support information retrieval (IR) capabilities in large‑scale systems. Develop and integrate MapReduce analytics and distributed file/table storage components. Review, test, and debug software to ensure design compliance and operational reliability. Resolve software problem reports and contribute to sustainment efforts. Provide input to system design decisions, including hardware/software tradeoffs and

usage. Apply appropriate software engineering methodologies across the development lifecycle. What You'll Need Strong experience in cloud software engineering and distributed computing. Backend development experience with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful services. Experience with Hadoop ecosystem technologies (e.g., YARN, HDFS, HBase, MapReduce, Zookeeper). Experience with information retrieval technologies (e.g., Lucene, Solr, Elastic, MongoDB). Experience ingesting and processing diverse data formats (XML, JSON, CSV, Avro, binary). Familiarity with Linux environments, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices. Experience with object‑oriented design, concurrency, and performance optimization. Comfort operating and debugging distributed systems under operational constraints. Experience & Education Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field required with a minimum of 8 years' (mid-level) or 12 years' (senior-level) career experience in large-data environments and cloud platform engineering /development.
