Job Description

Ground Station/MCS System Engineer
Description:
Perform systems engineering duties in architecting, designing, integrating and testing aircraft and weapons systems. Conduct basic and applied research to evaluate adaptability of computer software and hardware to aircraft and ground station design and manufacture.

Recommend improvements in testing equipment and techniques. Performs the role of System Architect. Coordinates technical input from NAVAIR subject matter experts to form technical recommendations to program engineering and program management.

Responsible for overseeing the efforts of less senior staff assigned to a specific job/project. Ensure project procedures and controls are followed, manage manning and staffing project efforts and lead problem resolution efforts.

Lead integration and technical oversight of Mission Control System (MCS), Launch and Recovery Element (LRE), and communication systems to ensure seamless interoperability between the MQ-4C air vehicle and ground control infrastructure.

Manage system requirements, configuration baselines, and documentation, supporting design reviews, change control, and alignment with program objectives and operational needs.

Coordinate and support test events, site activation, and cybersecurity compliance, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, security assessments, and system verification for Main and Forward Operating Bases.

Provide engineering solutions for various and unique problem sets and customers in a government software hosting facility.

Perform routine maintenance and configuration changes to various physical and virtual hosts.

Secure information systems and applications to current DoD guidance.

Collaborate with contractors, Fleet users, and government stakeholders to resolve technical issues, plan sustainment and upgrade efforts, and ensure mission readiness across U.S. and FMS sites.
Education & Experience:
Active DoD Secret Clearance, required.

Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in related discipline.

Education substitutions not allowed.

Systems Administrator experience is highly encouraged/desired.
Journeyman Level:
At least three to ten (3-10) years of experience in the Systems Engineering supporting DoD aircraft systems, DoD weapons systems, DoD systems or DoD support systems, consisting of the design, development, integration and system testing of computer hardware, computer software, and navigation, sensor and communication subsystems.
Senior Level:
At least ten (10) years of experience in the Systems Engineering supporting DoD aircraft systems, DoD weapons systems, DoD systems or DoD support systems, consisting of the design, development, integration and system testing of computer hardware, computer software, and navigation, sensor and communication subsystems.
Travel:
On some occasions, the employee may be required to drive to offices or buildings near the work site. In rare occasions, travel may be required.
