- Contract The EmergeATS National Security Team is seeking an experienced Senior System Engineer (Level 3) to support a mission-critical program on-site at Fort Meade, MD.
Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph prior to start. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required; however, an additional four years of directly related systems engineering experience may be substituted for the degree. Applicants must have at least 8 years of systems engineering experience supporting classified DoD or Intelligence Community environments, with demonstrated expertise across the full systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, integration, testing, deployment, operations, and sustainment. Candidates must have strong hands-on experience with situational awareness (SA) systems , Linux administration across RHEL, CentOS, and Rocky Linux , authentication and identity management using FreeIPA and/or Active Directory , and the installation and management of STE/STN infrastructure in classified environments. Experience supporting GOTS software , developing automation scripts in Bash and Python , producing technical documentation and system design artifacts, and leading troubleshooting and testing efforts across complex systems is required. Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with users, customers, and technical teams in a mission-focused environment are essential. This position requires direct employment with EmergeATS (Kroll subsidiary). Key Responsibilities Systems Engineering Lifecycle Support all phases of the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, integration, testing, deployment, operations, and sustainment. Translate mission and user requirements into system designs and technical solutions. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system architectures, interface control documents (ICDs), test plans, and as-built configurations. Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and system trade studies. Manage configuration control, technical baselines, and system lifecycle documentation. Serve as a senior technical authority and primary interface with users, customers, and cross-functional teams. Linux Systems Administration Install, configure, harden, and administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, and Rocky Linux environments. Manage authentication and authorization services, including FreeIPA and Active Directory integration. Administer system performance, patch management, operating system lifecycle activities, logging frameworks, scheduled tasks, and security controls. Provide Tier 2/3 support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for complex Linux-based systems. STE/STN Infrastructure Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Secure Telephone Equipment (STE) and Secure Telephone Network (STN) infrastructure in both connected and air-gapped classified environments. Support provisioning, moves, adds, and changes (MACs) while coordinating with communications and security personnel. Maintain inventory, configuration records, and supporting technical documentation. GOTS Software Administration Install, configure, maintain, patch, and support Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) software products. Perform software integration, compatibility testing, lifecycle management, and issue resolution in classified environments. Automation and Scripting Develop and maintain Bash and Python automation scripts supporting system administration, deployments, monitoring, configuration management, log analysis, and operational workflows. Promote automation best practices and process improvements across the team. Testing and Operational Readiness Develop and execute system-level test plans, acceptance tests, regression tests, and validation activities. Lead troubleshooting and resolution efforts across complex multi-component systems. Support operational readiness reviews and deployment certification activities.
