In this role, you will bridge the gap between production operations and system engineering, serving as the primary technical escalation point for complex hardware, driver, and operating system issues on our manufacturing floor. You will be responsible for configuring, operating, and troubleshooting bare-metal, custom enterprise servers and rack systems, ensuring every system build meets strict quality and functional standards before customer shipment. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary tier technical support for complex hardware and system issues arising on the production floor. Configure, test, and troubleshoot custom high-end bare-metal servers, storage systems, and enterprise rack equipment. Install, configure, and evaluate operating systems across Linux distributions, Windows Server, and hypervisors (Proxmox, VMware ESXi). Perform driver installations, resolve firmware/driver conflicts, and configure custom networking components and peripherals. Diagnose complex system-level anomalies involving motherboards, high-density RAM, storage controllers, GPUs, and high-speed NICs. Collaborate directly with component vendors (hardware, component, and OS providers) to resolve rare hardware defects or edge-case integration issues. Identify production bottlenecks and recommend operational improvements; author simple scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate manufacturing build steps where applicable. Perform Testing/Evaluation/Benchmarking and Qualification of various computer/server components and related devices for use or consideration in future product designs. Participate in Engineering design reviews of existing and future design considerations.
Required Qualifications Education:
Associates degree in a computer technology related curriculum.
Experience:
3-5 years of hands-on experience building, testing, or troubleshooting enterprise computer systems, high-end workstations, or server hardware.
Operating Systems & Hypervisors:
Solid operational proficiency with Linux (Ubuntu/Debian, RHEL/Rocky), Windows Server, and hypervisor deployment (Proxmox VE, VMware ESXi).
Hardware Expertise:
Deep knowledge of high-end server architectures, enterprise chipsets, PCIe devices, storage backplanes, RAID/HBA controllers, and network interface cards. OOB management schemes.
Troubleshooting:
Demonstrated capability to diagnose root causes across hardware, BIOS/UEFI settings, driver layers, and network interfaces.
Peripherals & Networking:
Experience configuring IPMI/iBMC, network switches, cabling, and custom hardware add-on modules. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in PC or server manufacturing, integration, or custom system builder environment. Basic scripting capabilities (Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automating testing, PXE deployments, or flashing firmware. Familiarity with enterprise storage protocols (NVMe, RAID, ZFS). Security+ certification. Familiar with cybersecurity and Packet capture in general.
