Full Job Description Job Description:
Saab, Inc. is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer who's motivated to learn about and work on complex electronic surveillance systems for commercial and government customers. This role is critical to successfully developing products and executing projects to achieve Saab's vision - It's a human right to feel safe. This position is located at our East Syracuse, NY, office.
Responsibilities include:
Using technical documentation, hands-on time, and guidance from senior engineers to learn sensor data processing, analog and digital hardware, computer networking, and embedded & server software systems. Performing hands-on technical investigations into air traffic control and sensor processing hardware and software. Supporting new feature development and change requests from internal product maintenance and international customers. Creating and maintaining product specifications and technical documentation to support customer deliverables and internal systems engineering processes. Supporting field teams during deployment of customer systems.
Compensation:
$72,000 - $90,000 The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent 0-3 years of relevant experience in safety critical or mission critical industries (e.g., aerospace, defense/military, medical, transportation, nuclear, etc.) Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form productive relationships in a team environment Excellent written and oral communications skills International projects often require working evening hours to support customer meetings. Domestic and international travel may be required, typically less than 5%.
Desired:
Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related discipline Familiarity with: Analog and digital signal communications (e.g., voice, audio, sensor data) Development of safety-critical software systems Windows and/or Linux server applications Data processing and tool development using MATLAB Networked computer systems and/or virtual machine environments Cybersecurity, system hardening, and/or intrusion testing
Citizenship Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
