Job Description

Awetomaton is seeking exceptional students for our Summer 2027 Internship Program , a full-time, three-month program based at our headquarters in Beavercreek, Ohio. As an IT Intern, you'll be mentored directly by senior engineers and DevOps leads on real production systems, gaining hands-on experience in cloud environments, observability, automation, and secure IT operations. This is an opportunity to level up your technical skills while contributing to mission-critical system development. You'll join a cohort of 4-6 interns, with work that has visibility across Awetomaton and our government customers. This is a full-time, paid position for students who will have completed their junior year of undergraduate study by Summer 2027. The anticipated start date is May 2027. Internship benefits are limited to participation in Awetomaton's 401(k) plan. U.S. citizenship is required, as we are unable to provide visa sponsorship. Applications will be considered through March 1, 2027. Key Responsibilities Assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-prem systems Support user onboarding/offboarding, hardware/software provisioning, and basic help desk tickets for engineers and researchers Help implement and test automation scripts (Python, Bash) for routine IT tasks and infrastructure-as-code deployments Participate in observability projects, including configuring dashboards, alerts, and logging pipelines (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, etc.) Contribute to documentation of internal IT processes, runbooks, and system configurations Collaborate on security tasks such as vulnerability scanning, patch management, and basic compliance checks Shadow senior team members during incident response and system upgrades Req uired Qualifications Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Administration, or a related field U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance Basic understanding of operating systems (Linux preferred, Windows a plus) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs) Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, PowerShell) or strong willingness to learn quickly Interest in cloud computing, DevOps practices, or observability tools Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, small-team environment Available to work full-time for the duration of the internship Preferred Qualifications Experience with any cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure) or container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) Exposure to monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk) Prior help desk, desktop support, or sysadmin experience (even part-time or personal projects) Interest in AI/ML infrastructure or high-performance computing environments Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) About Awetomaton We build software that enables humans to make informed decisions from raw intel data, with a specialization in satellite collection.
