Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer (Full-Time, Permanent)Level:
Mid-Level Location:
Brickell Key, Miami, FL — Hybrid (on-site required; proposed 3-4 days/week, exact cadence to confirm)Compensation:
$Competitive + great benefits Reports to: Head of IT Operations About the Role Our client, a boutique financial services firm based in Miami, is hiring a Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to own and automate their AWS environment while maintaining strong Linux systems fundamentals. This is not an IT support role with cloud exposure — were looking for a genuinely hands-on infrastructure engineer who thinks in automation first, with the systems depth to troubleshoot anything underneath it. Because our team operates out of a single Miami office, this role also serves as our local technical point of contact for the occasional issue that requires physical presence — a switch, a network drop, a workstation. That is a small part of the job, not its center of gravity. What Youll Do Cloud infrastructure & automation (~70%): Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform and/or Ansible). Own provisioning, scaling, and automation of cloud resources across compute, networking, storage, and IAM. Linux & infrastructure operations (~25%): Administer and harden Linux systems, manage configuration and patching, support core infrastructure services, and troubleshoot at the OS and network layer. Local IT & networking (~5%): Provide hands-on support for on-site infrastructure needs — network switches, cabling, workstation setup — when physical intervention is required at the Brickell Key office. What Were Looking For Proven, hands-on AWS experience (compute, VPC/networking, IAM, storage) — not certification-only exposure Working proficiency with Terraform and/or Ansible in a production environment Strong Linux administration background (systems you can actually operate and fix, not just deploy) Solid networking fundamentals (routing, switching, DNS, firewalls) Broad, self-directed troubleshooting ability across cloud and on-prem layers A career progression that shows either: (a) systems/Linux administration ? cloud engineering, or (b) cloud/DevOps engineering that has retained real underlying systems knowledge Comfortable working on-site regularly in Miami and available for occasional physical infrastructure work Nice to Have Experience in a financial services, trading, or other latency-/uptime-sensitive environment Scripting ability (Python, Bash) beyond IaC tooling Exposure to monitoring/observability stacks (CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, etc.) Security fundamentals — IAM policy design, VPC segmentation, encryption at rest/in transit Work Location & Schedule This is a hybrid role based in Miami. The successful candidate must live in the South Florida area and be available for regular on-site work at our Brickell Key office, including on short notice when local hardware or network issues require hands-on interventionBenefits
