Local candidates in the Tri-State area preferred We are seeking an experienced Security Architect to join a leading healthcare organization based in New York City. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting enterprise-wide cybersecurity initiatives within a highly regulated healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will serve as a strategic and technical security leader, partnering closely with Security, Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, and Compliance teams to design and implement secure enterprise solutions. Responsibilities Lead the definition, development, and implementation of enterprise security architecture and security administration processes across multiple platforms Translate business and regulatory security requirements into technical security controls and architecture standards Partner with cross-functional IT and business teams to ensure alignment between security, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture strategies Conduct security architecture reviews and identify security gaps, vulnerabilities, and areas of risk Design and recommend mitigation strategies and security countermeasures for enterprise systems and applications Provide guidance to senior leadership on cybersecurity architecture, governance, compliance, and risk management initiatives Perform application vulnerability assessments and security reviews for pre-implementation and production systems Design and implement security controls aligned with information assurance principles and industry best practices Collaborate with Security Engineering teams to deploy and maintain security configurations and controls Stay current on emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and evolving regulatory requirements Support compliance initiatives related to HIPAA, HITECH, Joint Commission, DSRIP, COBIT, PCI-DSS, NIST, ISO 27001/27002, and state privacy regulations Participate in special projects and additional security initiatives as needed Required Qualifications 10+ years of overall IT experience 7+ years of dedicated cybersecurity experience, including security architecture and solution design Strong experience designing enterprise security architectures in complex environments Deep understanding of:
HIPAA/HITECH
NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)
ISO 27001/27002
PCI-DSS Risk management and compliance frameworks Strong knowledge of: Network security architecture
TCP/IP, OSI
model, and defense-in-depth principles Identity and Access Management (IAM) Active Directory MFA, PKI, and federation technologies Security protocols and secure configuration management Encryption technologies and algorithms Experience with operating systems including: Windows Linux/UNIX macOS Experience conducting vulnerability assessments and security gap analyses Strong understanding of infrastructure, application security, and enterprise risk management Ability to work independently and within fast-paced, collaborative teams Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Preferred Qualifications Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred Experience supporting enterprise compliance and audit initiatives Knowledge of software engineering and secure SDLC practices Familiarity with IT supply chain security and third-party risk management Relevant security certifications preferred: CISSP CISM GSEC CEH or equivalent Education Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred
