Senior Systems Engineer (Hybrid | Public Safety Software)
Location:
Derby, KS (Hybrid:
3 days in-office, 2 days remote)Salary:
$70,000 - $85,000 per year (Based on experience)Schedule:
Full-time | On-call 1 week every 4 weeks | Quarterly travel (~1 week per quarter) About CIS CIS builds mission-critical public safety software used by 911 centers and emergency responders across the U.S. Our technology helps save lives every day—and our engineering team ensures that the infrastructure behind it stays secure, reliable, and fast. We're seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with strong experience in cloud infrastructure, networking, and system reliability. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in high-uptime environments and wants to make a direct impact supporting life-saving software. What You'll Do- Design, deploy, and maintain cloud-hosted and on-premises systems for mission-critical applications.
- Manage Docker container environments and CI/CD deployments.
- Administer Windows Server and (ideally) Linux systems.
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco firewalls, VPNs, routing, and switching.
- Manage SQL Server databases (performance tuning, backups, queries).
- Monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Support on-call rotation (1 week every 4 weeks) to resolve critical incidents.
- Collaborate with Development, QA, and Support teams on infrastructure improvements.
- Implement AI tools and automation to streamline workflows and reduce manual tasks.
- Maintain thorough system documentation and runbooks.
- Travel up to 1 week per quarter for deployments or customer site visits.
- Administer and maintain O365 Environment, including SharePoint, Exchange, Entra, etc.
- Administer 3CX Environment What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure management.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized environments.
- Strong background in Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Proven Windows Server expertise; Linux experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Cisco networking (firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching).
- Experience with SQL Server administration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of VMware ESX or Hyper-V.
- Experience managing Microsoft 365 / Entra ID.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with AI or automation tools is a plus.
- Public safety or emergency response software experience a plus.
- Must pass a criminal history background check. Benefits
