  • $104,664; commensurate with experience Job Summary/Basic Function Reporting to the Executive Director of Engineering & Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), the Systems Engineer will provide engineering expertise for buildings in the the Science Complex to ensure the effective operation of these facilities to enable the University to achieve its primary objectives of teaching and research.
Responsible to manage the operations and routine/preventative maintenance of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and building systems including complex and critical process and environmental control systems in the Science Complex and other assigned facilities. Define, develop, monitor and refine an asset maintenance plan for the Science Complex and other facilities to include: preventative maintenance tasks, use of predictive and other non destructive testing methods designed to identify and isolate reliability problems, and develop budgets for required maintenance efforts. Coordinate the operations, maintenance and renewal of building systems to address program requirements (schedule and functionality), all code and regulatory requirements and best maintenance practices for effectiveness and efficiency. Investigate and troubleshoot existing component and system problems and prepares appropriate maintenance work requests, extraordinary maintenance requests, and capital maintenance requests. Provide technical support to the Engineering Services group, maintenance management, technical personnel, and perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned. Required Education Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology required. Required Related Experience Three (3) years progressively responsible project and or building maintenance and operations management work experience required. Additional consideration to candidates with prior experience with institutional facilities, who possess one or more advanced technical or business degrees, and/or demonstrate exceptional cross-disciplinary project management skills. Desirable Related Experience Five (5) years of progressively responsible work-related experience in the public sector, private sector, or government service preferred. Desirable License/Registration/Certification Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
