Primary Purpose:
Manage and maintain district-wide hardware and software related to the district's overall security and emergency management objectives. This includes a video surveillance system, visitor management system, and access control system (including request hardware/video and emergency buttons).
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor of Science degree related to the job assignment or equivalent industry experience
Professional Work Experience:
Experience in design, implementation, and management of security systems Prefer experience with K-12 school systems Prior experience working with contractors and vendors, and writing system specifications
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of video system platforms, surveillance cameras, and access control systems Demonstrated ability to conduct engaging training sessions, write and provide easy-to-use procedures Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Organized Able to conduct on-site inspections of district facilities Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP\IP model Knowledge of
WAN\LAN\WLAN
design and implementation Experience imaging and working in Microsoft AD and SCCM environments Practical working knowledge of design, installation, and maintenance of UTP and fiber optics cabling systems Able to troubleshoot hardware and software
Job Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain district-wide hardware and software related to the district's overall security and emergency management. This includes a video surveillance system, visitor management system, and access control system (including request hardware/video and emergency buttons). Assist campus personnel with using the access control system to schedule and control facility access, and provide ongoing training and support Support departments involved with scheduling the access control system for facility use events, and provide ongoing training and support to them Manage scheduling of facilities for the Administrative facilities and manage global district schedules for all schools and facilities (holidays, weekends, break periods) Work closely with vendors; research and stay abreast of trends and upgrades to systems that enhance or augment security systems Work closely with the Technology Services Network Team to troubleshoot servers, cameras, and other peripherals connected to security systems Assist personnel with creating and running reports from the access control system and review trends looking for unapproved use, forced entry, extended periods of doors being held open, etc., to support maintaining a secure environment Review and work with campus/department leaders to use, adjust, or modify systems to meet their needs and achieve the district's security goals Assist campus personnel and departmental personnel with archiving video records of incidents. Nothing is released without the Director of Emergency Management and School Security's approval. Create reports, maintain records, and review trends; report trends to the Director of Emergency Management and School Security. Conduct ongoing training of staff, write and provide easy-to-use procedures. Regularly visit with campus personnel to support their security system needs. Respond to technical and software issues at the campus and departmental levels. Support Raptor systems and related printers, scanners, and kiosks. Support 2N systems for remote door entry. Conduct network and data security planning and administration. Provide ongoing District Network capacity and performance planning to ensure a proper operating environment to meet the usage requirements of network users. Act as the liaison between the Operational Services and the Technology Services divisions. Develop and document procedures for the administration of security systems in collaboration with the Network Team. Assist with printing and issuing card access badges in accordance with approved regulations and district policy. Recommend upgrades, changes, and improvements to systems for long-term planning Assist with compiling budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs Oversee installations related to security projects Compile, maintain, and file all physical and digital reports, records, and other documents required Respond to calls related to security systems on off-hours (nights and weekends) Participate in regular professional development
