Job Description

Genesis10 is currently seeking an Azure Site Reliability Engineer Lead for a hybrid position (3 days onsite required) with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Jersey City, NJ or Plano, TX. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

The Azure Site Reliability Engineer Lead provides technical leadership for the Azure Platform SRE function, guiding reliability engineering priorities, operational readiness, automation strategy, observability maturity, and production support execution. This rolebines senior hands-on engineering with leadership across incident management, problem management, observability, platform automation, and cross-team execution. The ideal candidate can lead by influence, organize technical work, mentor engineers, and represent SRE priorities across enterprise stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership for Azure Platform SRE priorities, including reliability engineering, observability, automation, incident response, and problem management

Lead execution of SRE workstreams for canary automation, platform dashboards, alert tuning, monitoring modernization, resiliency improvements, and operational readiness

Coordinate SRE execution across Azure foundational services, workload enablement, GenAI platform services, and core SRE responsibilities

Partner with platform engineering and operations teams to improve the handoff between build, run, support, escalation, and long-term remediation functions

Drive toil reduction through automation, self-healing patterns, improved runbooks, standard remediation workflows, and CI/CD-based platform changes

Lead incident response for significant Azure platform events and ensure follow-up actions be durable engineering improvements

Own or coordinate post-incident reviews, root-cause analysis, recurring-issue analysis, and problem-management backlog creation

Guide observability strategy across Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Dynatrace, dashboards, alerting, service health views, and platform telemetry

Lead reviews of alert effectiveness, threshold quality, dashboard coverage, and monitoring gaps

Provide technical direction for Terraform module improvements, reusable automation patterns, platform health checks, and operational tooling

Mentor SRE II and SRE III engineers and establish engineering standards for reliability, automation, documentation, and production support

Represent Azure SRE in cross-functional forums with platform engineering, platform operations, security, governance, architecture, product, and application teams

Define team-level priorities, backlog items, delivery sequencing, and measurable reliability oues

Support leadership reporting on reliability progress, operational risk, automation impact, and production-readiness status

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in platform, systems, or infrastructure engineering, with a strong focus on automation and integration
  • Proficiency in SRE best practices; Proven ability to reduce toil and improve observability of the environment
  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible or similar), and scripting with golang, Python, or equivalent
  • Experience with supporting enterprise service mesh platforms
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and CI/CD pipelines supporting automated builds, validation, and deployments
  • Experience integrating provisioning workflows with platform services such as virtualization, networking, identity, monitoring, and configuration management systems
  • Strong focus on testing and reliability, including automated integration/validation testing and troubleshooting ofplex workflows
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and DevOps
Desired skills:

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)

Familiarity with containerization and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes)

Experience in financial services or highly regulated environments

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making

Ability tomunicateplex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Prior experience mentoring or leading engineering teams

Pay range: $60.24 - $68.24 per hour
