The candidate will work with software for devices ranging from simple micro-controllers to sophisticated multi-processor systems. Software written by the candidate will typically sit very close to hardware. The candidate requires a strong understanding of hardware interfacing for a variety of applications from custom communications links for telemetry to embedded sonar systems. Coda Octopus Engineering creates rugged electronics, software, and embedded computing solutions for defense and commercial customers. Our small team of experienced and dedicated engineers work on programs spanning sustainment of legacy defense electronics to new development using the latest state-of-the-art technologies. Job Description In this role you will work on the initial system architecture, prototype on dev-boards, implement the final firmware, and take the design through lab testing and verification. A high level of creativity is required to succeed in this position. The candidate must be able to read and understand requirements, interact with other members of the technical staff, design and implement software, debug software written by other engineers, perform engineering analyses, and participate in design reviews. The candidate should understand the overall product engineering process, from design kick-off to production; and must be capable of interacting with the various disciplines involved in production of a product or solution. Required Skills/Experience Programming in C, C++ Microcontroller software development Interrupt-driven software Hardware interfacing at the register level Embedded Linux or RTOS application development Device drivers for Linux Strong analytical thinking Ability to quickly learn new software tools and APIs Desirable Experience Linux distribution customization (Yocto, Buildroot, etc.) Experience with digital communication technologies (UART, I2C, SPI, SMBus, PWM, CAN bus, etc.) Device drivers for Windows Multiprocess and/or multithreaded software experience Algorithm and data-flow design Experience with a variety of microprocessor families Nvidia Jetson modules Reading schematics and component datasheets TCP/IP and/or UDP programming Programming in Matlab, Python, or another rapid development language Signal processing or communications Nice to Have Software DSP (C++) High performance computing GPU computing Sonar and/or Radar systems Experience with bus technologies, such as USB and PCI What We Offer Competitive salary, dependent on experience Opportunity to work on industry-leading sonar and navigation technologies Collaborative and innovative engineering environment Long-term career development within a growing technology company Background Check Must be a US person and be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
