Position Summary UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Senior Microsoft Platform Engineer to join the Enterprise Infrastructure division. This position will work with a highly talented and high-performing team responsible for administering and supporting critical Microsoft enterprise platforms including Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, and related collaboration and identity technologies. The Senior Microsoft Platform Engineer will play a key role in ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient operations across the Microsoft ecosystem while delivering exceptional customer service and timely issue resolution. The ideal candidate will also bring hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power Virtual Agents, as well as Microsoft AI capabilities such as Copilot and Copilot Studio. This role requires strong technical expertise, operational problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. Responsibilities Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Bookings, Stream, and OneDrive Manage Entra ID integrations including app registrations, enterprise applications, SSO, and consent frameworks Support authentication, authorization, conditional access policies, and identity lifecycle management Perform user, group, and mailbox provisioning and administration Design, implement, and maintain secure M365 and Entra ID solutions Administer and govern the Microsoft Power Platform environment, including environment strategy and operational governance Develop and support automation solutions using Power Automate and Power Apps Support Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and Copilot agents initiatives and integrations Monitor and respond to operational alerts, escalations, and platform performance issues Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across messaging, identity, automation, and collaboration platforms Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure compliance, governance, and operational readiness Support SIEM integrations and operational monitoring tools such as Splunk, Sentinel, or similar technologies Assist with service lifecycle management including entitlement management and information management initiatives Provide technical guidance and documentation for supported systems and services Additional responsibilities as assigned Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 5+ years relevant experience required Experience Significant experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 enterprise environments Experience with Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Entra ID Experience implementing and managing identity and access management solutions including SSO, MFA, and conditional access Experience supporting enterprise integrations and automation platforms Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and cloud platform issues Experience with scripting, automation, or platform administration tools Licensure/Certifications Relevant Microsoft certifications preferred but not required. Preferred Qualifications Education Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline. Experience Experience with hybrid Microsoft environments and migrations Experience with Microsoft Power Platform including Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power Virtual Agents Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and AI-enabled Microsoft services Experience with Microsoft Graph API and enterprise application integrations Experience with SIEM technologies such as Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel Experience supporting enterprise security and governance initiatives Experience in higher education or large enterprise environments Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences Strong customer service orientation and collaborative problem-solving skills Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. Position Type & Work Location This is a full-time, benefited position.
