Lockheed Martin is seeking a Cyber Systems Security Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between traditional IT Systems Administration and Cybersecurity compliance. You will be a part of a team that is responsible for deploying, hardening, automating, and maintaining a secure operating environment. The ideal candidate possesses a strong operational background in both Linux and Windows environments, knowledge using bash/Powershell/Ansible, and a commitment to safeguarding critical defense systems against evolving cyber threats. Key Responsibilities
- System Installation & Hardening
- Deploy and configure Windows (Server/Workstation) and Linux (RHEL, SUSE) systems.
- Apply DISA STIGs and perform routine security‑hardening tasks under guidance from senior security engineers.
- Patch Management & ATO Support
- Execute scheduled patch cycles (Windows Updates, yum/apt patches) and verify successful remediation.
- Coordinate with IT Security Engineering team by providing evidence of STIG compliance and patch status for ATO maintenance.
- Networking & Virtualization
- Perform basic LAN/WAN configuration (IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS).
- Manage virtual machines using VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V, or KVM; assist with VM provisioning and troubleshooting.
- Scripting & Automation
- Write/maintain simple Bash, PowerShell, or Python scripts to automate repetitive tasks (e.g., patch deployment, log collection).
- Use Ansible playbooks or SCCM task sequences under direction from senior staff.
- Collaboration & Troubleshooting
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional internal Lockheed Martin teams to align IT infrastructure projects with organizational standards, security protocols, and program goals.
- Provide rapid, responsive troubleshooting and technical support to end-users, swiftly diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and system issues to maintain continuous operational uptime. ## Basic Qualifications
- Professional experience combining IT Systems Administration, Networking, and Cybersecurity Engineering.
- Strong operational experience with Linux (RHEL, SUSE) and Microsoft Windows (Server and Workstation environments).
- Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining scripts/automation code using Bash, PowerShell, and Ansible.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., VMWare, OpenShift Virtualization).
- 9+ years of relevant IT experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Possession of a CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II baseline certification ## Desired Skills
- Experience with Cisco Networking
- Familiarity with compliance scanning tools (e.g., ACAS, Tenable Nessus)
- Familiarity with DoD RMF guidelines, security hardening implementation, and vulnerability tracking
- Ability to troubleshoot networking and system issues using Wireshark and PSExec
- Previous experience in software development used to build custom scripts, automate routine IT operations, and identify the root causes of system errors.
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range:
