Full-Time, Regular, 40 hours/week, Exempt Position Overview The Cybersecurity System Administrator is a critical, hands-on role dedicated to the day-to-day operational defense of Partners In Health's (PIH) global IT infrastructure. Serving as the organization's first line of defense, this individual is responsible for continuously monitoring our digital environment, triaging daily security alerts, and maintaining the health of our core defensive tools across both on-premises and cloud-based systems. The Cybersecurity System Administrator will work closely with the Information Security Director and the broader IT department to execute our security strategy. This role focuses on critical execution: running routine vulnerability scans, managing identity and access controls, assisting with incident response, implementing priority cyber defenses, and serving as the primary escalation point for security-related helpdesk tickets. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented IT professional looking to deepen their hands-on expertise in cybersecurity operations. By maintaining the daily security posture, educating end-users, and executing established security playbooks, the Cybersecurity System Administrator plays a direct and vital role in protecting the systems and data that support PIH's global health and social justice mission. Responsibilities Daily Security Operations, Monitoring & Defense (40%) Monitor the organization's Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) , Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) , and alerting platforms daily. Serve as the first line of defense to triage initial security alerts, investigate suspicious activity, and escalate complex or critical issues to senior security staff. Assist in the daily administration and health monitoring of security tools, including antivirus, EDR, firewalls, and email security tools. Work under the guidance of the Information Security Director to fine-tune monitoring alerts and detection rules to reduce false positives and alert fatigue. Review daily threat intelligence feeds and assist in updating internal blocklists and security controls based on emerging threats. Implement key cyber defenses, as prioritized by the Information Security Director and the IT Leadership team. Vulnerability & Access Management (30%) Execute regular vulnerability scans across on-premises and cloud environments. Review automated reports and assist the infrastructure team with prioritizing patch management. Support the administration of Identity and Access Management (IAM). Conduct routine audits of user access, enforce the principle of least privilege, and assist in onboarding/offboarding workflows. Assist in monitoring endpoint compliance (e.g., verifying antivirus is running, OS is patched, and encryption is enabled) to ensure secure access for remote and onsite staff. Incident Response & User Support (20%) Serve as a first responder for routine security incidents (e.g., compromised credentials, malware isolation). Assist in the containment, investigation, and reporting phases of the Incident Response lifecycle. Administer the organization's security awareness training platform. Manage the deployment of monthly phishing simulation campaigns and track user completion metrics. Act as an escalation point for the IT Helpdesk for security-related user tickets, such as blocked legitimate emails, restricted access, or suspicious file reports. Documentation & Compliance Support (10%) Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for daily security tasks and alert handling. Assist the Cybersecurity Operations team in gathering evidence, generating reports, and documenting controls to support PIH's alignment with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF). Required Experience, Education, Licenses or Certifications Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science, or comparable work experience with an IT emphasis. 3+ years of on-the-job experience in Information Security ExperiencewithNIST, CIS,CMMC,ISO27001/2, GRC
frameworks and their implementation process. Certifications related toCSSP, CISSP, CEH, SEC+, ITIL, COBIT, PMP
SkillsRequired:
In-depth knowledge of computer and network systems, including foundational protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), routing, and secure network architecture. Hands-on experience administering and tuning core defensive platforms, such asEDR, SIEM
systems, and vulnerability scanners.Preferred:
Strong proficiency in writing and maintaining automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash/Shell scripting to streamline security operations and incident response. Experience working within and securing Linux environments and a foundational understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker). Familiarity with administering secure remote access solutions, software-defined perimeters, or Zero Trust network architectures.
