Job Description

We are seeking a Security Engineer for a contract position with a 6+ month duration, based in Northborough, Massachusetts. In this role, you will provide technical support for hardware and applications, ensuring effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and security requirements. Responsibilities Support remote sites including data centers with ability to provide smart hands support for infrastructure and network equipment. Manage and maintain enterprise-grade network firewalls, including rule creation, policy reviews, and security hardening. Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot routing and switching infrastructure within a multi-site environment. Administer and optimize application delivery and traffic-balancing platforms to ensure high availability and performance. Perform network vulnerability assessments and port-scanning activities to identify and remediate security risks. Oversee centralized log collection, monitoring, and alerting systems to support operational visibility and incident response. Maintain and report on security patching for firewalls, routers, switches, and applications for backups, syslog, monitoring, and appliances within required time frames. Manage secure network backup processes, including automated configurations, validation, and restoration procedures. Follow

Standards and meet time-sensitive deadlines. Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation, providing application and hardware support. Install, rack and stack, and upgrade IOS on new equipment. Create and maintain network documentation using Visio. Qualifications Valid driver's license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy. Proficiency with Visio. Knowledge of
NERC CIP
Standards. Experience with enterprise-grade network firewalls, routing and switching infrastructure, and application delivery platforms. Experience performing network vulnerability assessments and port-scanning activities. Experience with centralized log collection, monitoring, and alerting systems. Experience with network backup processes and restoration procedures. Ability to work 24x7 on-call rotation schedules. Experience supporting multi-site network environments.
