Job Posting TitleIT Security College Co-op Job Description SummaryThis co-op position focuses on managing alerts and handling security events within a Security Operations Center (SOC). The IT Security Engineering Co-op will monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents while ensuring the overall security posture of the organization. This role requires familiarity with security monitoring tools, incident response, and threat analysis to protect the organization's IT environment. Responsibilities also include managing alerts, investigating security events, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring operational readiness through on-call rotations. The ideal candidate will possess foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including incident response processes and risk management frameworks. (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
Perform daily security operations, including threat hunting and incident management.
Use tools such as SIEM, endpoint protection, and network monitoring systems to detect and prevent threats.
Remediate identified security deficiencies and vulnerabilities.
Investigate and analyze security incidents to determine root causes and impacts.
Participate in on-call rotations to support the organization's security operations.
All other duties as assigned. Required Skills and EducationCurrently pursuing a full-time degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
Graduation date of December 2026 or laterAvailable to work a minimum of 25 hours per week, year-round.
Minimum 3.0 GPAAbility to work in a high-pressure environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends.

Participate in on-call rotations to support the organization's security operations.
