Job Description

Piper Companies is seeking an Azure Engineer for a world leading technology organization in the Raleigh Durham, North Carolina area. The Azure Engineer role is a hybrid position . The Azure Engineer will support, engineer, and maintain secure Azure-based environments with a strong focus on IL5-compliant Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Active Directory services. An ideal candidate for the Azure Engineer role is an experienced cloud engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, secure VDI implementations, and enterprise identity and access management. Responsibilities of the
Azure Engineer:
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure infrastructure in support of IL5-compliant environments.
  • Engineer, manage, and support Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and VDI solutions in regulated environments.
  • Implement and maintain Active Directory, Azure AD, and hybrid identity integrations.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD IL5 security, governance, and accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Azure resources for performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with security, networking, and systems teams to support secure cloud operations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and architectural diagrams.
Qualifications of the
Azure Engineer:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, Azure Engineer, or Systems Engineer.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and architecture.
  • Proven experience supporting VDI solutions, including Azure Virtual Desktop, in IL5 or other regulated environments.
  • Strong expertise in Active Directory, Azure AD, group policy, and identity management.
  • Experience working in secure or government environments with compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code tools is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. Compensation for the Azure Engineer includes:
  • Salary range: $125,000 - $150,000
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, Sick Leave as required by law
