Type of Appointment:
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefited position in the 3000 broadband, exempt from Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) (not overtime eligible).

$105,000 - $115,000 annual salary

Job Summary:
Core Technology Services (CTS) provides secure information management and technology services to North Dakota University System (NDUS) students, faculty, staff, and state residents. CTS links academic and business services with the NDUS community, connecting users to the information and educational resources they need to accomplish their goals. This Security Engineering Manager role provides administrative and technical assistance in the management of information security. This position reports to the Director of Information Security for the NDUS and serves the CTS group and the NDUS member institutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the CTS Security Engineering Team, overseeing two security engineers and guiding their day-to-day priorities and development. Develop and maintain IT security policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Develop, implement, and maintain security technologies and systems. Prepare and execute security assessments, analysis, and remediation. Participate in risk analyses for central and distributed systems and networks. Conduct education and awareness programs related to IT security. Maintain proficiency in current trends and issues in IT security.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Management Information System (MIS), or a closely related field; and at least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in information security or security engineering; OR Associate's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a closely related field; and at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in information security or security engineering. Minimum of 18 months of experience within the last five years directly supervising two or more information security staff or security engineers, including technical direction, workload prioritization, coaching, performance evaluations, and career development. Experience implementing, deploying and managing security technologies. Experience leading and conducting security assessments and vulnerability remediation. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems (MIS). Security certification(s) such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, GSEC, GCIH, or equivalent credential. Working knowledge of key security and privacy regulations and frameworks ( FERPA, HIPAA, PCI
DSS, NIST, GLBA, CIS
). Experience developing or contributing to security policies, standards, and procedures. Experience developing or contributing to security awareness programs. Experience with identity and access management, including MFA and privileged access management (PAM). Experience with common scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar). Experience in higher education or public sector environments. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
