Central Station Operator Omaha Public Power District - 3.8 Omaha, NE Job Details Full-time $22.92 an hour 19 hours ago Qualifications Access control systems Phone communication IT system monitoring Regulatory compliance Emergency dispatch experience Process improvement High school diploma or GED Driver's License Incident response Driving Staff training Escalation handling Ad-hoc reporting Communication skills Stakeholder relationship building Entry level Identity & access management IT security monitoring Full Job Description Responsibilities Central Station Operator The Central Station Operator plays a critical role in supporting OPPDs mission by ensuring the safety, security, and operational continuity of Technology & Security (TS) systems across the District. In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for incident awareness, system monitoring, and access management, delivering responsive support and dependable communication to business partners across OPPD. Youll follow well-established procedures, respond quickly to alerts and incidents, and help maintain secure and reliable operations in a fast paced, high stakes environment. The Impact You'll Have Monitor TS systems, security platforms, environmental controls, and local/national news sources to detect conditions that may impact business operations, ensuring issues are identified early and escalated appropriately. Respond to a variety of alerts, alarms, and system notifications, following detailed procedures to evaluate situations and facilitate timely resolution. Dispatch security officers and designated personnel to incidents requiring on-site response, supporting effective coordination and communication. Manage physical access by adding, updating, suspending, and terminating access rights using approved systems and processes. Provide password resets, account unlocks, and BitLocker recovery support during periods when the Service Desk is unavailable. Track, document, and communicate protected¿area access changes in alignment with compliance and regulatory requirements. Produce routine and ad hoc access reports to support operational transparency and compliance needs. Maintain consistent communication with security officers performing safety and welfare checks, ensuring accurate information flow during daily operations. Build strong working relationships with internal teams, external agencies, and business partners while demonstrating professionalism and service excellence. Guide partners to self service tools and documentation when appropriate, helping improve efficiency. Participate in knowledge sharing and new¿hire training to strengthen team capability. Document safety, security, and incident activities according to established procedures and identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows. Qualifications Must Have High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Strong communication skills, including the ability to use phone, email, and internet¿based tools effectively. Valid driver's license. No record of felony convictions. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a call center, dispatch center, alarm monitoring center, Security Operations Center (SOC), or Network Operations Center (NOC). Experience performing effectively under emergency or high stress conditions. Familiarity with multi-channel radio communication. Ability to multi-task, rapidly assess situations, and respond according to established procedures. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization. Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems and technologies as processes evolve.
