Job Description

We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join a manufacturing organization in New Jersey in a contract capacity with the potential to become permanent. This position is ideal for a hands-on security specialist who can strengthen core cyber defenses, support compliance efforts, and collaborate across technical and business teams to protect critical systems and sensitive information. The role offers broad exposure to security operations, access governance, infrastructure protection, and risk management while helping advance the company's internal security program.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor security events and investigate alerts, coordinating containment, escalation, and response activities to reduce risk and maintain operational resilience.
  • Manage identity and access controls across enterprise platforms, including account lifecycle administration, privileged access oversight, and recurring entitlement reviews.
  • Enhance endpoint security by supporting patching practices, encryption standards, configuration controls, and remediation of exceptions across the environment.
  • Review and strengthen network defenses through firewall oversight, access rule validation, segmentation support, wireless security checks, and detection of unauthorized activity.
  • Run vulnerability management activities by coordinating scans, ranking findings based on business impact, assigning corrective actions, and confirming remediation closure.
  • Contribute to incident response readiness, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity testing to help restore essential operations within defined recovery targets.
  • Support internal and external compliance obligations by maintaining evidence, security documentation, risk records, and materials required for audits and customer assessments.
  • Evaluate third-party security posture by reviewing supplier controls, identifying risks, tracking mitigation plans, and documenting accepted risks when necessary.
  • Deliver security awareness initiatives such as onboarding guidance, phishing simulations, and role-based training to improve employee readiness and reporting practices.
  • Partner with internal teams and external providers to implement and document security tools, standards, runbooks, and scalable operational processes, including participation in on-call support when needed.
