Job Description

ITS is looking for a sharp, ambitious, and passionate student to join the Information Security Office, taking on important tasks and becoming an integral part of the Information Security Team. Our goal is to provide the students with exposure to various career opportunities within Information Security while working on projects that are critical to security operations at the university. Career Readiness Competencies Use campus tools and systems effectively to complete job tasks. Learn new software or digital platforms as needed for your role. Stay aware of basic cybersecurity and data privacy practices. Troubleshoot simple technical issues or know when to ask for help. Adapt to updates or changes in the tools you use for work. Use technology to organize, track, or present information clearly. The Information Security Technician will work directly with the Information Security Team, assisting in efforts to define, measure and improve cyber security and compliance at the university. The Information Security Technician may be involved in providing day-to-day support as needed including: Security monitoring Security incident response Vulnerability management Research and documentation development on how various technologies and processes work Gathering, reporting and delivery of security metrics Various small projects and process assistance as needed Must possess good communication skills to engage both IT and other faculty and staff across campus while contributing to the success of cyber security efforts at the university. Enrolled at the university, currently seeking degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related degree Familiarity with TCP/IP networking & related protocols (such as HTTP, FTP, SSH, IPSEC, TLS/SSL, and SMTP) Experience with Windows Operating Systems Excellent written and verbal communication skills Creative problem solving skills The desire to work in a fast-paced challenging environment A willingness to grow and learn new technologies The ability to work in a collaborative team atmosphere A highly self-driven sense of motivation GPA of 3.0 or above
