At Farfield Systems, we do work that matters — and this role sits at the heart of a high-visibility national security mission. Our Cybersecurity Specialist supports the Department of Energy's Naval Reactors Laboratory Field Office (NRLFO) Mission Support Division, providing cybersecurity program oversight, policy implementation, and leadership across classified and unclassified programs at DOE Naval Reactors site offices. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and assisting the implementation of Cyber Security Risk Management Program guidelines; developing and maintaining local cybersecurity policies, procedures, and long-range strategic plans; advising and training personnel on cybersecurity standards; identifying IT system vulnerabilities; and developing solutions that help staff operate securely without impeding productivity. Deliverables are subject to Mission Support Division quality assurance review. This is a part-time, on-site position (~1,560 hours per period of performance) located at either Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory (West Mifflin, PA) or Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (Schenectady, NY).
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 4 years of directly relevant experience, OR a Master's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. Minimum 1 year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS-12 level leading cybersecurity audits, compliance reviews, vulnerability assessments, or risk analyses. Comprehensive knowledge of Federal cybersecurity laws, DOE Orders, NNSA policies, DoD instructions, and IC directives. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Active DOE Q clearance required (DOD reciprocity considered during adjudication).
Preferred:
CISSP, CISM, or equivalent certification; experience developing cybersecurity policies and SOPs; familiarity with diverse IT infrastructure disciplines.
