Application Security Engineer - Fully Remote - Must Work HST Hours

Overview:

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Application Security Engineer to support the development and maturation of an enterprise Application Security program. This role requires a blend of strategic vision and hands-on technical expertise, with a strong focus on securing enterprise applications across both on-prem and cloud environments. This individual will play a critical role in shaping application security strategy, implementing security tools, and ensuring secure-by-design practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and advancement of the organization's Application Security program Define and implement application security standards, policies, and best practices to support secure development Assess the current state of application security and develop a roadmap to mature the program Work with both on-prem and SaaS-based enterprise applications to identify and mitigate security risks Architect and implement security solutions and tools, supporting full lifecycle deployment until transition to operational teams Partner with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure secure integration between applications and systems Establish guardrails and controls to ensure new and existing applications are secure as they scale Conduct application security reviews, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations Develop and present security recommendations, strategies, and reports to leadership and executive stakeholders Translate complex technical risks into clear business impact for non-technical audiences Support audit readiness and maintain alignment with regulatory and cybersecurity frameworks

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in IT or cybersecurity, including architect or lead-level responsibility Strong experience developing or managing Application Security programs in enterprise environments Deep understanding of modern application security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques Architect-level knowledge of enterprise application ecosystems and integrations Experience securing both internally hosted applications and SaaS platforms (Salesforce, ServiceNow, Archer, etc.) Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements (NIST, PCI-DSS, FFIEC, HIPAA, etc.) Ability to operate independently and drive strategy in a highly visible role Preferred /

Experience implementing application security tools (SAST, DAST, SCA) Experience working in regulated environments (financial services, healthcare, etc.) Strong understanding of API security, identity/access integration, and application architecture Experience presenting to and influencing executive leadership Key Traits for
