Job Description

Piper Companies is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to support a leading organization in the technology industry in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area. The Cloud Security Engineer role is hybrid requiring to be in office 2 days per week. The Cloud Security Engineer will be responsible for securing and monitoring its cloud environments. An ideal candidate for the Cloud Security Engineer role is an engineer experienced in AWS, Azure, Splunk, and SOC operations. Responsibilities of the
Cloud Security Engineer:
  • Implement and maintain security controls across AWS and Azure environments.
  • Build and optimize Splunk dashboards, alerts, and searches for threat detection.
  • Partner with SOC teams to investigate and respond to security incidents.
  • Onboard cloud logs into Splunk and ensure data quality.
  • Support cloud-focused threat hunting and incident response activities.
Qualifications of the
Cloud Security Engineer:
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud or security engineering.
  • Hands-on expertise in AWS and Azure security services.
  • Strong Splunk experience, including SPL development and administration.
  • Background working in or with a SOC environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud IAM, logging, network security, and automation/scripting. Compensation for the Cloud Security Engineer includes:
  • Salary range: $105,000 - $120,000
