RCS Linux Cybersecurity Administrator
- GI 532434 Fairbanks, Alaska, United States Hybrid On Campus Staff Full-time Grade 80 UAF Geophysical Institute Add to favorites View favorites The RCS Linux Cyber Security Administrator (CSA) is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations and protecting Geophysical Institute (GI) systems by a) focusing on maintaining the security of Linux environments, b) monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber threats, c) implementing system security controls, d) conducting vulnerability assessments, e) performing incident response, f) maintaining the endpoint management and SIEM tools, and g) scripting (Shell, Python) or programming (C, Ruby, PHP, Javascript) for automation, while staying updated on new threats and ensuringpliance with standards like NIST and CMMC.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e., information technology,puter programming,puter science, cybersecurity & information assurance, or other related field) or an equivalentbination of training and experience. 3 or more years of professional Linux-related experience, or an equivalent mix of education, experience, and professional certifications.Preferred Experience:
They should have 3 or more years of professional Linux-related experience and 1 or more years of professional cybersecurity experience. Cisco Certificate in Ethical Hacking Cisco Certificate Support Technician (CCST) Cybersecurity Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate CompTIA Security+ Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSED) GIAC Certificate Incident Handler (GCIH)Position Details:
This position will be physically located at the UAF campus in Fairbanks, Alaska. The successful finalist will be expected to report to duty at the UAF office on the first day of employment. This position is full-time, Grade 80, term-funded, exempt, 12-month positionplete with apetitive salary and UA employee benefits package. UA provides a generouspensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, based on education and experience. The University of Alaska (UA) reserves the right to require employees to work on-site at the UA facilities. Hybrid and remote work may be approved for employees based in Alaska at the University's discretion. Remote work for employees based outside the State of Alaska may be approved only in exceptional circumstances or when required by the position's job duties.
