A Vulnerability Analyst or Penetration Tester probes for and exploits security vulnerabilities in web-based applications, networks and systems. Penetration Tests are designed to achieve a specific, attacker-simulated goal and should be requested by customers who are already at their desired security posture. A typical goal could be to access the contents of the prized customer database on the internal network, or to modify a record in an HR system. Vulnerability Assessments are designed to yield a prioritized list of vulnerabilities and are generally for clients who already understand they are not where they want to be in terms of security. The customer already knows they have issues and simply need help identifying and prioritizing them.

Job Description:
The Department of Cybersecurity & Networking seeks experienced Cybersecurity Adjunct Instructors to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate brings real-world industry experience across core cybersecurity domains and a strong commitment to student success and practical instruction. Adjunct faculty are responsible for delivering curriculum, evaluating student performance, facilitating hands-on lab exercises, and integrating current industry standards such as emerging AI technologies, threat landscapes, and modern defensive/offensive practices into the classroom environment.
Potential Subject Areas May Include:
Network Security & Defense Penetration Testing, Ethical Hacking, & Offensive Security AI & Machine Learning Applications in Cybersecurity Digital Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR)
Master's Degree required in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related STEM field. (Doctorate or relevant terminal degree preferred).
Experience :
At least 5 years of professional industry experience in cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field. Prior higher education teaching or professional training experience is highly desirable .
Certifications & Skills :
Strong ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse student populations. Industry-standard security certifications (e.g., CISSP, OSCP, CISM, GPEN, Security+) are strongly preferred. Exposure to modern technical tools, including AI/LLM integration in technical workflows, automated vulnerability scanning, or defensive automation, is a plus. At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
