Job Description

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor's degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown. The Technology Solutions Department at Horry-Georgetown Technical College is seeking candidates for a Information Security Officer. The selected candidate will be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and mitigating cybersecurity risks, while working closely with various departments which include IT, Administrative, and Academic departments. At the advanced/senior level, serves as the College's subject matter expert for information security: establishes agency-wide security standards, provides expertise for the design of security systems across a wide range of complexity, and leads the College's information security program. While this position offers the opportunity for hybrid work, the employee is required to maintain a 37.5-hour workweek in accordance with State Technical College System requirements and must work on-site as needed to support business operations and institutional needs.

Advertised Salary:

$81,192 (Minimum)- $113,730(Midpoint)

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity. Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+. Strong understanding of firewalls, SIEM, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, and data encryption; Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks like

NIST, ISO

27001, and CIS; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work well in a team as well as independently. Advanced knowledge of security administration across operating systems and software; ability to develop information security project plans; advanced knowledge of application and operating system hardening, vulnerability assessments, and security audits; advanced understanding of information risk concepts relating business needs to security controls; and ability to explain information security concepts to audiences outside the field.
