Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Systems Security Administrator to support and strengthen a local government technology environment in South Carolina. This contract-to-permanent position is ideal for a hands-on candidate who can secure infrastructure, investigate threats, and take direct action to resolve issues across on-premises and cloud systems. The role requires a strong background in systems and network administration, along with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily security operations by monitoring alerts, reviewing system and network activity, and identifying risks that could affect the organization's technology environment.
  • Investigate cybersecurity events, determine root cause, and carry out remediation steps to contain threats and restore secure operations.
  • Lead response efforts for security incidents, including urgent issues that may require after-hours support for critical events.
  • Administer and harden core infrastructure such as Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft 365, and Azure-based services.
  • Evaluate security settings across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid platforms and implement improvements that strengthen overall protection.
  • Manage vulnerability assessment and remediation activities by prioritizing findings, coordinating fixes, and validating resolution.
  • Organize and support security audits, penetration testing activities, and follow-up actions to address identified gaps.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, technical documentation, awareness materials, and reporting for leadership and compliance needs.
  • Supervise assigned staff or resources, coordinate vendor support, and serve as a trusted security advisor to departments across the organization.
