Cloud Application Administrator Department Overview The University of Virginia's Information Technology Services (ITS) department seeks a Cloud Application Administrator . ITS provides technology services and solutions that support University departments, faculty, staff, and students across Grounds. Position Summary The Cloud Application Administrator will serve as a product administrator and technical resource for enterprise cloud-based applications provided by central IT and used throughout the University. This position will work closely with senior technology analysts on the product management team to develop provisioning and management methodologies that enable the efficient, effective, and compliant delivery of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products. Supported applications may include Qualtrics, Box, Zoom, Eventbrite, Smartsheet, and other enterprise cloud platforms. The Cloud Application Administrator will collaborate with project and operations teams to integrate, administer, and support these services. The position will also partner with Enterprise and Infrastructure Systems, Identity Services, Access Management, and Information Security teams to leverage technologies such as LDAP and Microsoft Active Directory to support user provisioning, access entitlements, integrations, and deprovisioning. Responsibilities SaaS Administration Administer and support enterprise SaaS applications, including dashboards, portals, system configurations, and user administration. Manage user access, permissions, entitlements, provisioning, and deprovisioning processes. Configure and support APIs and scripts used to automate processes and integrate cloud applications with enterprise systems. Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, procedures, and support materials. Provide advanced Level 3 technical support for complex application issues. Review system logs and troubleshoot application, integration, access, and configuration issues. Participate in incident management and on-call responsibilities as required. Vendor and Stakeholder Relationships Develop and maintain strong working relationships with SaaS vendors and vendor support teams. Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders throughout the University and within ITS. Serve as a technical resource and partner to departments utilizing supported cloud applications. Collaborate with Information Security to ensure cloud applications meet appropriate security, risk, and compliance requirements. Project and Product Management Independently manage departmental projects related to cloud applications and services. Participate in CIO-sponsored projects and provide project updates and executive-level reporting as needed. Contribute to the development and maintenance of product roadmaps. Drive product and software lifecycle activities, including implementation, upgrades, enhancements, maintenance, and retirement. Identify opportunities to improve services through automation, integration, and process improvement. Minimum Qualifications At least seven years of relevant work experience OR a bachelor's degree and at least three years of relevant work experience. Knowledge of general SaaS administration concepts and practices. Experience interacting with or leveraging directory technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP to improve processes or integrate systems. Experience using scripts or automated processes in conjunction with directory or enterprise systems. Experience developing and maintaining effective relationships with technology vendors. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and manage evolving priorities and responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to gather information from multiple sources, analyze and synthesize complex information, and translate findings into meaningful information that supports stakeholder decision-making. Preferred Qualifications Experience administering enterprise SaaS applications and integrating applications with identity and access management systems. Experience writing, modifying, or troubleshooting scripts using languages such as PowerShell. Experience administering SaaS systems, including access management, user provisioning, and entitlement management. Experience interpreting directory system data and applying that knowledge to system design, integration, and operations. Demonstrated ability to query, manipulate, analyze, and parse large datasets. Experience applying information security principles and best practices to cloud applications, including evaluating configurations and performing risk analysis. Understanding of directory service attributes, groups, roles, and filtering concepts, including LDAP directory structures. Ability to define directory filters and evaluate the impact of roles and permissions within SaaS environments. Experience using APIs to automate processes, retrieve information, update data, and integrate systems. Familiarity with database management concepts and architectures. Understanding of data flows, system integrations, and data flow diagrams. Demonstrated skill creating and maintaining clear and accurate technical documentation. Experience reviewing detailed system logs and troubleshooting complex cloud application errors. Experience configuring deployment or installation packages for locally installed software clients such as CrashPlan, Zoom, or similar applications. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and macOS operating systems. Working knowledge of DNS terminology and concepts. Understanding of Single Sign-On (SSO) technologies and standards such as SAML and Shibboleth, including experience configuring or testing SSO integrations for SaaS applications. Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position is $85,000-$90,000 , commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position Type and Work Location This is a full-time position with the University of Virginia's Information Technology Services department.
