Salary:

Support systems directly tied to U.S. Navy missions and national defense Grow your cybersecurity expertise while taking on greater technical ownership Work alongside experienced engineering and cybersecurity professionals Gain exposure across the full systems engineering and accreditation lifecycle 9/80 schedule provides every other Friday off Job Details The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer will help design and implement cybersecurity capabilities for mission-critical U.S. Navy systems. This role offers an opportunity for a systems engineer to expand into cybersecurity while contributing to requirements development, threat analysis, risk assessment, engineering documentation, and accreditation activities. You'll be responsible for: Designing and engineering systems that meet Navy mission requirements, incorporating security considerations alongside functional and performance requirements. Analyzing existing systems, engineering documentation, and development processes. Developing, managing, and tracing system requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle. Translating customer needs and applicable security controls into clear, verifiable system requirements. Developing and reviewing systems engineering documentation, including contributions to accreditation-related deliverables. Collaborating with engineering, test, logistics, cybersecurity, and program teams. Supporting Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) activities alongside dedicated cybersecurity resources and customer stakeholders. Communicating technical findings, risks, and recommendations to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Must have:
Must have U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Solid foundation in systems engineering principles and full lifecycle practices (requirements, architecture, integration, verification). Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and tracing system requirements, with familiarity in requirements management tools. General awareness of cybersecurity concepts, threat considerations, and risk factors as they apply to system design. Strong technical writing skills and experience producing clear, accurate engineering documentation. Ability to collaborate and communicate across engineering disciplines. Experience working in an Agile environment and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Nice to have:
Exposure to security control frameworks such as
NIST SP 800-53, ICD
503, DoD JSIG, or the DoD 8500 series (prior hands-on ownership not required). Experience supporting or coordinating with teams on Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) activities. Self-starter with strong organization and follow-through. Detail-oriented; able to translate complex technical findings for non-technical stakeholders.
