What they do
A Cyber Crime Analyst or Investigator investigates a number of crimes, ranging from recovering file systems on computers that have been hacked or damaged to investigating crimes against children. Recovers data from computers that can be used in prosecuting crimes in court. Computer crime investigators must also write reports for and testify in court. Also may work for large corporations to test security systems that are currently in place. Investigators do this by trying various ways to hack into the corporation's computer networks. At corporations, computer crime investigators also maximize optimal computer system performance levels.

Responsibilities:
Drive operations Uncover leads in large data sets Explore acquired data for intelligence Build technical tools/processes to improve overall operational effectiveness Required Education, Experience, & Skills Successful candidates will have relevant education and/or training such as Information Systems or Computer Science or perhaps a business degree with emphasis on Banking, Finance, or FINTECH. Certifications with tools like Reactor or TRM would be a plus. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Experience tracing cryptocurrency transactions, including asset flow, IP addresses and wallet software. Candidates with experience and/or knowledge in the following areas will move to the top of the list: Money Services o Understanding how ACH and SWIFT messaging works o Understanding how payment service providers work, such as Paypal or Payoneer o Understanding how cryptocurrency is converted into fiat. Cryptocurrency o Understanding blockchains and how they work- -Merkle trees
- -Centralized versus decentralized exchanges
- -Cryptocurrency mining and how it works
- -Proof of work vice proof of stake
- -Public Key cryptography
- -Role of updates such as BIP numbers, ERC20 improvements o Cryptocurrency wallets
- -How different types of cryptocurrency wallets work, such as software, hardware, custodial, non-custodial
- -Advantages/disadvantages of each wallet type
- -Private keys versus public keys
- -Seed phrases o Cryptocurrency transactions
- -Visibility of transactions on the blockchain
- -Role of nodes in cryptocurrency transactions
- -How fees work
- -Peer-to-Peer transactions
- -Role of Exchanges
- -Over-the-Counter (OTC) traders o Cryptocurrency tools
- -Proficiency with commercial blockchain explorers, such as Chainalysis Reactor, TRM or CipherTrace
- -Experience with open source blockchain explorers o Cryptocurrency laundering methods
- -Mixers and bridges
- -Peel chains

Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range:
$146670- $249330 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
