Position Description:
CGI Federal is seeking a Mid-Level ETL & Data Migration Engineer to support data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading activities within a major federal modernization program. This role directly contributes to large scale data migration operations by executing ETL workflows, preparing data for cloud ingestion, resolving transformation issues, and ensuring required data quality standards are met. The engineer works alongside senior migration staff and technical teams to deliver reliable, accurate, and repeatable data operations throughout mission critical modernization cycles.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
ETL Execution & Data Transformation
  • Execute ETL workflows for structured and unstructured datasets migrating from legacy systems to cloud environments.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, cleansing, normalization, and enrichment according to migration specifications.
  • Troubleshoot transformation issues and coordinate resolution with senior ETL and data engineering staff.
  • Support automation improvements enhancing repeatability and reliability of ETL operations. Migration Operations Support
  • Prepare datasets for migration cycles, including pre migration readiness checks and staging activities.
  • Assist senior engineers during large scale extraction events, test cycles, and cutover operations.
  • Perform pipeline monitoring and basic performance validation during data movement operations. Data Quality, Validation & Issue Resolution
  • Conduct verification activities to confirm accuracy, completeness, and consistency of transformed data.
  • Identify defects or anomalies and work with engineering and QA teams on root cause analysis.
  • Document recurring issues and support improvements in validation processes and quality controls. Cross Team Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, Senior ETL & Migration Engineers, QA/Test Engineers, Cloud Engineers, and Product Owners.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and migration planning discussions.
  • Support integration of ETL processes with broader data pipelines and downstream systems. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain data maps, ETL logs, transformation procedures, SOPs, and technical notes.
  • Provide updates on ETL execution progress, validation findings, and pipeline status.
  • Document workflows and repeatable processes to ensure consistent future migration cycles. Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
  • Must have Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of hands on experience in ETL operations, data transformation, or data migration.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured datasets and transformation logic.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools, scripting languages, and data pipeline operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi team, fast paced technical environments. Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal programs (DOJ, FBI, Intelligence Community).
  • Experience working within cloud migration or cloud based ETL operations (AWS preferred).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps workflows, CI/CD processes, or distributed compute tools.
  • Intermediate scripting or automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.
