PRISM Inc., is seeking a Senior Data Engineer, you will architect and evolve scalable, secure data platforms that power enterprise analytics, AI/ML, and modernization initiatives. You will serve as a technical leader and mentor, translating complex business requirements into robust data products while establishing the architectural standards for future-state capabilities. Operating with high autonomy, you will drive data quality and accessibility to ensure the reliability of mission-critical data across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Architecture & Design:
Lead the architecture and implementation of scalable on-premises and cloud data platforms, integrating Guidewire and external sources to power enterprise analytics.
Data Pipeline Engineering:
Design and oversee robust ETL/ELT pipelines using modern frameworks (Microsoft Fabric, TimeXtender, or Databricks) with a focus on ingestion, orchestration, and monitoring.
Data Modeling:
Govern optimized data models for structured and semi-structured data to support reporting, operational use cases, and AI/ML initiatives.
Governance & Security:
Champion best practices for data quality, lineage, and security, ensuring all assets meet regulatory and internal compliance standards.
Analytics Enablement:
Drive modernization through lakehouse architectures and streaming technologies to enable self-service analytics and near-real-time processing.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Serve as a technical partner to stakeholders and mentor junior engineers, ensuring engineering excellence through design and code reviews.
Operational Execution:
Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, contributing to project planning, performance monitoring, and the delivery of senior management reporting.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
(SKILLS/EDUCATION): Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, supported by 8+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or architecture. Prior experience within the insurance industry and specific expertise in Guidewire Insurance Suite database schemas (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter) Proficiency in SQL Server and Azure-based cloud data platforms—specifically data lakehouse architectures—is required. Proficient of modern ETL/ELT tools (Azure Data Factory, SSIS), Databricks, and big data processing technologies (Spark, Kafka) is essential. Deep understanding of data security and compliance frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, or SOC 2, alongside experience with Jira and the Microsoft Office suite. Hands-on experience with Data Mesh architecture, MLOps, and the development of data pipelines for machine learning. Familiarity with BI and analytics tools, including Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, is also an advantage
