Direct Client Data Engineer Charlotte, NC 6-month

• W2 contract-to-permanent / FTE role HYBRID in Charlotte 3 days The team is looking for someone who can combine hands-on data engineering depth with solutioning, technical leadership, and stakeholder partnership.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing and guiding data engineering solutions using Databricks, PySpark, and modern data architecture best practices
• Helping shape ingestion, transformation, and modeling approaches across source systems, including complex XML and JSON feeds
• Applying medallion architecture concepts across bronze, silver, and gold layers
• Building and modeling data for downstream analytics, reporting, and business use cases
• Partnering with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical technical plans
• Providing technical guidance to junior data engineers, reviewing proposed solutions, and helping course-correct when needed
• Supporting multiple projects at once and stepping in hands-on when needed to unblock the team Strong fits will usually have Databricks, PySpark, data modeling, medallion/lake house architecture, XML/JSON ingestion, and experience guiding technical direction for a team or project.

Power BI, Azure ML, insurance, or complex enterprise data ecosystem experience would be a plus. 1. Are you open to working onsite in Charlotte 3 days per week? 2.
