Title:
Technical Engineer IV Job Location:
1 Seneca Street, Buffalo, NY 14203. Position requires in-office work four (4) days every week.
Job Description:
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade ETL workflows incorporating parameterization, error handling, logging, and automation for scalable and reliable data integration. Develop automation scripts and workflows in Python or any other language for data ingestion, transformations, API integrations, and automation. Design and implement logical and physical data models to support scalable, secure, and high-performing database solutions. Develop and optimize T-SQL code, including complex queries, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions, with a focus on performance tuning, execution plans, indexing, and best practices. Develop and execute automated unit, integration, and UAT tests for Python-based ETL pipelines and SQL Server data models, implementing robust data validation frameworks to ensure data quality. Dashboards:
model design, DAX optimization, workspace management, refresh scheduling, and access controls. Elicit and translate business requirements into technical specifications; clarify data definitions, ownership, and operational constraints across cross‑functional teams. Coordinate with vendors and third‑party platforms on integrations, upgrades, incident resolution, and best practices; maintain effective communication channels. Lead small engineering efforts, provide technical guidance, conduct code/design reviews, and mentor junior engineers. Follow SDLC and IT Service Management processes ensure reliable releases, rollbacks, and post‑implementation reviews.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or as Technical Engineer, Software Engineer/Developer, Data/Business Intelligence Engineer, or related occupation. Requires five (5) years of experience with the following: Designing and maintaining enterprise-grade data pipelines; building automation scripts, ETL workflows, and API integrations; working with database design, optimization, and advanced T-SQL (queries, stored procedures, indexing, partitioning); Consuming
REST/SOAP
APIs with secure authentication, pagination, and error handling. Requires any amount of experience with the following: Developing complex dashboards and reports, writing advanced DAX queries, and managing workspaces for governance and performance; Working with strong cross-functional communication and requirements gathering with business and technology stakeholders; Working with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS; Working with Git or similar tools for source code management; Writing test cases for data validation.
