Senior Data Engineering/Technical Lead

Apply Now About the role As a Senior Data Engineering, you will make an impact by designing, building and deploying scalable analytics solutions and data models on cloud platforms for a major retail client. You will be a valued member of the engineering delivery team and work collaboratively with technical program managers, client stakeholders, technical leads and development teams to translate business requirements into reliable, production-ready solutions. In this role, you will:
- Lead the design and implementation of effective analytics solutions and data models deployed on cloud platforms such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Analyse business requirements, recommend technical solutions and confidently lead discussions with technical program managers, technical leads and client stakeholders.
- Build high-quality applications and data pipelines using industry coding standards, strong engineering practices and unit testing aligned to project coverage expectations.
- Ensure developed features are properly tested, released and deployed successfully into production environments.
- Implement monitoring solutions aligned to client recommendations and operational best practices.
- Document technical designs, service specifications and implementation details while guiding developers in preparing functional and technical specifications.

Rest assured; we will always be clear about role expectations. What you need to have to be considered:- 7+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, analytics engineering or related software engineering roles.
- Strong experience with PySpark, Scala, Advanced SQL and Python.
- Experience building and managing Airflow pipelines and cloud-based analytics solutions.
- Hands-on experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI or Looker Studio.
- Experience working with at least one cloud platform; Google Cloud Platform experience is preferred.
- Strong SQL experience, with BigQuery experience considered a plus.
- Knowledge of designing large-scale, high-volume applications and data solutions. Please note, this role cannot offer visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future These will help you stand out:
- Experience delivering cloud analytics solutions for retail, consumer goods or high-volume enterprise environments.
- Ability to lead technical conversations with client stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Experience implementing production monitoring, observability and operational readiness practices.
- Strong documentation skills, including experience creating design documents, service specifications and technical implementation details.
- Experience mentoring developers or providing technical guidance across delivery teams.
Salary and compensation:
The annual salary for this position will be between $68,000 to $131,000 per year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
