Surry Community College seeks Workforce, Technology, and Community Education instructors to provide engaging, accessible, and practical instruction that prepares students to apply new knowledge and skills in the workplace and beyond. Instructors use their professional expertise and current industry practices to create meaningful learning experiences for adult learners. . For data analytics courses, the instructor will demonstrate proficiency in data preparation, visualization, and interpretation using industry-relevant tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and SAS. The instructor will teach students to access and analyze datasets, identify trends and patterns, and communicate data-driven insights through dashboards, reports, and other appropriate visualization methods. The instructor will also demonstrate an understanding of foundational statistical concepts and their application to real-world decision-making in business and technical environments. Part-time instructors facilitate an inclusive learning environment, assess students learning through appropriate measures, provide constructive feedback, adapt instruction to meet learner needs, and participate in required professional development activities. Instructors are expected to maintain current knowledge within their area of expertise and bring relevant industry practices and technologies into the learning experience. Instruction will be delivered online. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

I. TEACHING

a. Conducting in a professional manner all class hours as assigned by the course schedule and academic calendar. b. Creating correct, professional syllabi. c. Creating, administering, and accurately assessing substantive assignments and activities that support the college's general education requirements and Quality Enhancement Plan. d. Meeting classes on time and for the full duration of the published class time. e. Notifying the Director as soon as possible in the event of illness. f. Supporting and following college policies and procedures. g. Assuming reasonable responsibility for security, maintenance, and inventory of assigned equipment and supplies. h. Preparing and submitting accurate and precise pay and attendance rosters and other assigned documents when due. i. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

a. Participating in college-sponsored professional development activities as schedule permits.
